A blissful road trip to Sicily’s east coast

Ever now and then a girl just needs to have her blissful getaway to recharge her batteries, wind her head and just enjoy the peace and quiet. Especially after having the most stressful summer of your life: long working hours and business travels, dealing with a distance wedding organization, which happens to be your own wedding. Needless to say that after all this is over you desperately need for some peace and quite to return to being just plain & sane you.  My inner self was saved by a sun catching and Ionian coast exploring in Sicily.

And it was just lovely! So colorful, sweet and simple that recommended to anyone to go for a roadtrip in Sicily and see for yourself! Read More

Usually Sundays are the days when I am writing about my travels but as yesterday was traveling than decided to make an exception of the rule and share my weekend’s getaway to a lovely, stone age dated city – Sirmione today. This small town is located and North of Italy and is located on the southern shores of lake Garda and are famous with its Grottoes of Catullus (Grotte di Catullo), the most striking example of a Roman private edifice discovered in northern Italty also it is famous for it’s thermal springs, but that I am planning to explore next time as this story is about exploring Sirmione on foot and catching first impressions. A day getaway to Coast of the Dolphins – Santa Margherita Ligure

Have you ever had a feeling just that you are having overwhelmed by everything that you just feel like running away even if for a day, to relax and just get out of the city and change the air? Well I had this feeling and I knew I have to get away and these times the first destination that pops in m head is – beach! Because for me nothing is better than running away to a place where sand is under your feet and salt in your hair.. and as I have an explorer spirit who loves to try new things, see new places and have different experiences than chose to go to some Ligurian beach near Genoa.

Santa Margherita actually was visited by an accident as it was suggested by a kind man on the street when asked for directions to the beach at Rapallo. The place is really beautiful and definitely one of the pearls of Liguria. (Some more information about the city, attractions ,sport activities, accommodation, etc. can find in their tourism homepage).

But here are my day at Coast of Dolphins in pictures. Read More

Restaurant review: Alle Terrazze – a gem of Sicily

Time has come to take out my last card up from my sleeve at share the last part if my Sicilian adventure – the Historical Bathing Establishment of Mondello beach or nowadays restaurant Alle Terrazze.

The place historically had been established 103 years ago as a bathing establishment of royalty and elevated social class allowing them to spend their summers enjoying the sunshine on the terrace stretching out over the clear blue water and having a fine dining experience in beautiful saloons or sipping coffee overlooking the sea.

The place nowadays has kept the same values and beauty and offers a wonderful lunch and dining experience in this majestic historical building.

As a new experience and local food seeker that loves to try new things, tastes and enjoys wonderful view, especially sea view, than having a wild caught sea fish for a lunch was more than just “good idea!”.  Read More

Travel: Exploring Sicily – Mondello beach

Happy midsummer everyone! Today is Sunday, midsummer and also my name day therefore triple reason to make this day special. (Already started with some fit pancakes and homemade frozen yogurt (recipe soon will follow) ice cream). Also Sunday is about traveling and sharing my stories and tips and today is not an exception – I will share my second part of my Sicily getaway – exploring Palermo beach – Mondello.

Mondello is a beach for people in Palermo that can be reached in 20 min from Palermo with car or  25 min with a public bus nr. 806 from Palermo – stop Piazza Don Sturzo. (Time table you can find on AMAT homepage and ticket costs 1,4 eur (absolutely mandatory), the bus goes every 15 minutes, so no really need to rush.)

As our main objective of this short weekend break was to hit the beach and get some tan than that was exactly we did our second morning right after waking up.  Read More

4 delicious places you must try at Palermo

During my trips I always try to explore the typical cuisine and some particular places of the spot. of course I always try to go for the fit and healthy food as much as possible but also traditional food of the place I do love to try and share my experience. (Another good reason to workout and do cardio because it allows you to try some things that is not so ” clean” or “low on calories” as they should be, but what would be life without pleasure of exploring new tastes and pleasures? I always try to go with a 90/10 plan – 90% clean eating and 10% something that is out of my diet, therefore I am not torturing myself and it helps a lot to stick to the diet better as you know that there is a time you can treat yourself.) As I knew I will go to Sicily, which is world famous for its cuisine and especially sweets (even though not big fan of sweets, as prefer salty things) and I knew that won’t be able to work out for that weekend so I just had a pact with myself – do some extra hard dieting and workout routine 31 day before so I do not feel guilty of enjoying my time there. And I must say – it was a wonderful experience indeed. (The Palermo post you can read here).

As I had there just for a long weekend than I couldn’t explore too many places, but the ones I did, is definitely worth mentioning and a crime not to try the food there.  Read More

Have you ever seen those girls in pictures posing on their hands or standing on on 1 feet or on head and look amazing and give a fun, fresh and new way of posing for pictures? Well I have and since than one of my fitness objectives has been to learn a handstand so I  can give an artistic, acrobatic and fun twist to my pictures too. Already put this on my visual board and to-do list for 2015 (which you can check here) so there is no backing out – just have to do it.

The first thing I did to get closer to my objective was Read More

Palermo bedda which in Sicilian means beautiful Palermo and I completely agree – it was not only beautiful but also enchanting and so wonderful experience that brings you back in centuries and let’s you grasp a piece of history and life back than. People seems be appreciating every moment of the life, always smiling and so friendly wherever you go.  Maybe one of the main reasons for this happiness and goodness is the finger-lickin’ good food because we all know that full stomach makes happy heart.

This was my first time in Sicily and I must say I fulfill almost all the things from my Palermo wish list I prepared upon leaving.

Another weekend is over but still loads of things left to plan and prepare ahead as next week will be real busy. The Exitment is real – this weekend I am oficially opening beach season as I am heading to – PALERMO! Been looking for opening my summer with something new and exciting adventures and discoveries and I believe that Sicily is exactly what I need to give the right tune for it.

To give you a taste of my mood and hype I am having right now – listen to the song by Mark Ronson – Feel Right and it will take you there.

This acient Mediterranean capital – “città delle delizie” the city of delights (from Italian) is  more than 2700 years old where is living harmoniously Arabic domes, Baroque style churches, Art Nouveau buildings, eighteenth-century green spaces and bustling traditional markets similar to the Arab souk. All this and many other things I have already read, noted and found out about this wonderful city today as I dedicated it soley to a reserch and preparation for my short trip next week and. Also I have made a check list what to see, do and try while being there to create some wonderful memories.

It’s been a while since I last time managed to run away from Milan and it was not for a work.

Lately I have been travelling like a flight attendant and working day and night that’s why I said to myself (and to my boyfriend): ” That’s it! you and I need a break!and we need it now!”He completely agreed and on a sunny Sunday morning we headed North to find a place called Catedrale Vegetale – a Green tree Cathedral somewhere in mountains which was suggested by a friend . Sounded mysterious but I did not mind – in contrary was happy to get some little dose of Italian mountain beauty and have a small adventure.
