Have you ever had a feeling just that you are having overwhelmed by everything that you just feel like running away even if for a day, to relax and just get out of the city and change the air? Well I had this feeling and I knew I have to get away and these times the first destination that pops in m head is – beach! Because for me nothing is better than running away to a place where sand is under your feet and salt in your hair.. and as I have an explorer spirit who loves to try new things, see new places and have different experiences than chose to go to some Ligurian beach near Genoa.
Santa Margherita actually was visited by an accident as it was suggested by a kind man on the street when asked for directions to the beach at Rapallo. The place is really beautiful and definitely one of the pearls of Liguria. (Some more information about the city, attractions ,sport activities, accommodation, etc. can find in their tourism homepage).
But here are my day at Coast of Dolphins in pictures.
The first thing we did when arrived at the our destination was – parking and hitting the beach immediately. as it was an early morning the beach was not packed yet.
..and when weather is so hot like it is this summer in Italy (been 3 weeks over 35C every day) a parasol is a must. After some couple hours of tanning it was time to our homemade, pack lunch (rice salad with tuna, as diet shouldn’t be forgotten even on vacation) and than was time to see the town as was getting too hot to and as we all know also not good to get mid-day sun.
To relax and enjoy the city we stopped at a wonderful sweet-ice cream – waffle place – Gelateria Cepi which offers even soft yogurt, 0% yogurt ice cream in different tastes, vegan ice cream along to traditional artisan ice cream, crepes, waffles and so other delicious things.
This seafront – sunset walk was made absolutely romantic and charming with its green zone, monuments, flower beds and several benches and seats to enjoy the sunset and the view.
.. there is a plus side working out – your triceps looks good in the pictures. hehe
A boat trip map around the gulf to see the nicest cities in Liguria from the sea. (Cinque Terre is my all time favorite).
The day flies when you are having good time, doesn’t it? It definitely was for me and this lovely getaway made me energized, relaxed and truly happy, so I recommend to include this lovely town and Liguria to everyone’s travel schedule at least once in a lifetime – definitely worth it!

[…] Tanning is good, but don’t forget to get out of the sun from the hottest hours of the day as when the sun is the highest and are the biggest risk to damage your skin. So if you are in beach – make sure you have a proper UV protecting sun umbrella or rent one at nearest lido (or just get out of the beach and head for a long lunch or city/museum exploring, like me in Santa Margherita).
