Time has come to take out my last card up from my sleeve at share the last part if my Sicilian adventure – the Historical Bathing Establishment of Mondello beach or nowadays restaurant Alle Terrazze.
The place historically had been established 103 years ago as a bathing establishment of royalty and elevated social class allowing them to spend their summers enjoying the sunshine on the terrace stretching out over the clear blue water and having a fine dining experience in beautiful saloons or sipping coffee overlooking the sea.
The place nowadays has kept the same values and beauty and offers a wonderful lunch and dining experience in this majestic historical building.
As a new experience and local food seeker that loves to try new things, tastes and enjoys wonderful view, especially sea view, than having a wild caught sea fish for a lunch was more than just “good idea!”.
The place itself looks wonderful from inside and outside and really gives you the feeling being kind a royalty as you are event treated as one by all staff members that were not only kind but also fun and friendly.
After sitting down we were immediately served a glass of a local sparkling wine as a complimentary welcome drink.
I am not really a fan of alcohol nor a social drinker, but as today was my boyfriend’s birthday and the location, setting and view was so wonderful than I thought: ” why not to try the welcome drink and celebrate with a glass of bubbly this special occasion?”
The restaurant offers every day wild caught sea fish for their customers than can be selected by guest itself and prepared immediately. This is what we choose as for main course and I can say that it was just superb.
The Mix of fried sea food was a recommendation as a specialty at Italian places at sea and a must try, even if sharing a plate, like we did, it’s worth it!
After our little tasting and warming up for the main course finally came the “fisherman’s choice” – the fish of the day.
The fish was divided and served in front of us by professional waiter that cleaned it in a heartbeat while amusingly chattering about the family, wives and the Sicily in a friendly manner.
The last but not least we were asked to choose a dessert, because what would be a birthday without a cake?
As not fan of chocolate but my boyfriend is and he had the birthday after all than he chose the traditional Sicilan, award winning piece of cake – sette veli or seven veils which, according to him, was heavenly.
The experience at Alle Terrazze was just wonderful that made our short weekend getaway even more magical and my definite recommendation for whoever wants to have a special lunch or dining experience while they are in Palermo or Mondello.
P.S. perfect also for people on strict diets and healthy lifestyle followers like me.
