4 delicious places you must try at Palermo

During my trips I always try to explore the typical cuisine and some particular places of the spot. of course I always try to go for the fit and healthy food as much as possible but also traditional food of the place I do love to try and share my experience. (Another good reason to workout and do cardio because it allows you to try some things that is not so ” clean” or “low on calories” as they should be, but what would be life without pleasure of exploring new tastes and pleasures? I always try to go with a 90/10 plan – 90% clean eating and 10% something that is out of my diet, therefore I am not torturing myself and it helps a lot to stick to the diet better as you know that there is a time you can treat yourself.) As I knew I will go to Sicily, which is world famous for its cuisine and especially sweets (even though not big fan of sweets, as prefer salty things) and I knew that won’t be able to work out for that weekend so I just had a pact with myself – do some extra hard dieting and workout routine 31 day before so I do not feel guilty of enjoying my time there. And I must say – it was a wonderful experience indeed. (The Palermo post you can read here).

As I had there just for a long weekend than I couldn’t explore too many places, but the ones I did, is definitely worth mentioning and a crime not to try the food there.  Read More

Have you ever seen those girls in pictures posing on their hands or standing on on 1 feet or on head and look amazing and give a fun, fresh and new way of posing for pictures? Well I have and since than one of my fitness objectives has been to learn a handstand so I  can give an artistic, acrobatic and fun twist to my pictures too. Already put this on my visual board and to-do list for 2015 (which you can check here) so there is no backing out – just have to do it.

The first thing I did to get closer to my objective was Read More

Inspiration

Another weekend has gone by and here we are on Monday, making lists and plans for the week ahead of us, well at least that’s me and how I start every week – with a reflection of the previous one and planning the things that have to be done, obtained and achieved this week. Of course there comes also motivation and inspiration dose, which is absolutely necessary to give the right tune to the week. The amount of it depends on results and sum up of the previous week. As last week was spent trying to lose that extra kg taken during my Sicily getaway. Must say I am half way there and this week motivating myself to lose the other half and a little bit more so today I need some extra fitspiration, motivation and maybe some evil sarcastic gym humor to get me going and if you are like me – keep reading. Palermo bedda which in Sicilian means beautiful Palermo and I completely agree – it was not only beautiful but also enchanting and so wonderful experience that brings you back in centuries and let’s you grasp a piece of history and life back than. People seems be appreciating every moment of the life, always smiling and so friendly wherever you go.  Maybe one of the main reasons for this happiness and goodness is the finger-lickin’ good food because we all know that full stomach makes happy heart.

This was my first time in Sicily and I must say I fulfill almost all the things from my Palermo wish list I prepared upon leaving.

We all have heard this super food: quinoa (if ever struggled how to pronounce the word than it should be said “keen wah”. and here is the pronunciation video) that it is the absolute must have in every diet due for all the good it does to your body. Quinoa is not a grain but a seed and therefore easier to digest, rich with protein and low on glycemic index moreover wheat and gluten free and packed with vitamins and minerals (like Magnesium, Iron, Potassium, etc.) therefore also perfect if you are a vegan or vegetarian.

As as clean eater that’s slightly bored with regular wholegrain rice and chicken for lunch than I try to experiment  with my lean protein and carbs to make my meals more diverse and quinoa is one of my favorite alternative as it goes so god together with several foods.

My last lunch combinations was quinoa, Read More

Workout

My long weekend getaway to Sicily (pictures will follow up on Sunday) is over and it is time to get back to my strict workout schedule. I know for some is hard to stick to workout routine and eating clean while on vacations and sometimes I completely agree it is OK to not be harsh on yourself during a getaway, especially a short one – like a long weekend and enjoy some traditional food and not stick to a hard core workout, because after all it’s all about balance. Hard work and some rest for body and mind.

Especially when you are travelling to a new places you know that you are going to walk a lot to explore the place as much as possible and this is a wonderful workout that’s actually does not feel like one because you are getting snappy with pictures, stop for a rest and walk again so in the end of the day you even had walked like up to 20-30 km. Happened to me first time In Paris that I walked 30 km and basically was dead by the end of the day), that’s why I know.  If you want to check out how much you make it in a day, while sightseeing, get yourself a Pedometer app for Iphone or Endomondo for your mobile device to count your steps and burned calories. I use both (depends which has still battery).

My case I knew that will take 4 days off from strength training at gym so worked out harder 31 day before (had a challenge) and stayed on a strict diet to prepare for this weekend to enjoy it fully and guilt free if I eat more than I should, of course I knew I will walk a lot and go swimming so still would have sort of training done. But now the weekend is over and it’s time to get back with training and shaping up body plan and as today is  WW (Workout Wednesday) than today is a good day to talk about booty shape up exercises and actually do them.

Honestly every day is a good day to shape up booty because let’s be honest – who doesn’t want to have a firm and round butt? Here is a 17 exercises for Glutes that you should know and include in your workout Read More

Inspiration, Me & My Beau

This magic weekend is about to finish as well as my Sicilian adventure as today is officially last day in Palermo before heading back to Milan. I must say that some great things has been learned, some Sicilian secrets reviled and some tan and loads of sunshine and positive energy taken that will give me strength and motivation till my next month! (Details and pictures of will follow up on Travel Sunday post).

Today, as it’s beginning of a new month, I am sharing my monthly visual board to set the tune and objectives for the June  that I will go after.

The first and the main goal of the month is progress. No matter how big it is – important is the progress and moving forward! Yes, these 2 days, let’s be honest, was not all about working out every day,  but rather – “let’s try this local dish” or “ this dessert looks heavenly – I must try it!” so I need to get back on my clean eating and training schedule, but sometimes it is good just to give yourself a break and enjoy the life’s guilty pleasures (well as long as they are balanced).

Before leaving for Palermo I closed my 31 day challenge and I must say I did good Read More

Waky waky, it’s Friday! While most of people are on their way to work I am was off to airport to head to Palermo, Sicily where will spend this weekend! So excited for all the new experiences in tastes ahead, but first things first – today is Foody Friday and as this is a travelling post than wanted also to share with you my travelling breakfast secret and tip to catch an early flight/train and not to snack at airport on something unhealthy.

My solution, that work’s always is overnight oats. It’s easy, fast and so delicious. It is perfect, if you do not have time to prepare breakfast at morning, so you prepare it the night before and just eat it before hitting the road or option B – take it with you in a food container.

The recipe is simple Read More

Trust me – works like charm every time after a long day/ bad week or just to release the tension and make you feel like a Wonderwoman and kick some butts!

Another weekend is over but still loads of things left to plan and prepare ahead as next week will be real busy. The Exitment is real – this weekend I am oficially opening beach season as I am heading to – PALERMO! Been looking for opening my summer with something new and exciting adventures and discoveries and I believe that Sicily is exactly what I need to give the right tune for it.

To give you a taste of my mood and hype I am having right now – listen to the song by Mark Ronson – Feel Right and it will take you there.

This acient Mediterranean capital – “città delle delizie” the city of delights (from Italian) is  more than 2700 years old where is living harmoniously Arabic domes, Baroque style churches, Art Nouveau buildings, eighteenth-century green spaces and bustling traditional markets similar to the Arab souk. All this and many other things I have already read, noted and found out about this wonderful city today as I dedicated it soley to a reserch and preparation for my short trip next week and. Also I have made a check list what to see, do and try while being there to create some wonderful memories.
