Between the madness of organizing wedding and business trips I finally have managed to get my hands on my camera and to get all my photos on computer from my last trips including Portugal adventure.
Despite it was just couple of weeks ago, seems that year has passed by as so many things has happened in between. However it is nice to see the pictures and get that lovely nostalgic feeling of the holiday fun with my girls. Already can’t wait to go for a next adventure with them.
We voted for a road trip to get that freedom and luxury to choose what time to wake up, where to stop and what to see on the way so we rented a car. Less we knew that renting car online trough supplier and actually picking it up and having an extra contract would cost us double for insurance, but we learned our lesson to never take insurance online, but directly when you hire a car.
Happy after several hours of driving we found ourselves at the windy coast of Ericeira – a small town loved by surfers and win gurus.
The first night we just stayed that this lovely surfer’s city enjoying tapas at a cozy seaside bar.
The day after we just spent at beach and exploring around, like going to Cabo da Roca – the western most extend of Europe. Pity the information center stopped working otherwise we would be able to get even a certificate that we have been there as a memory and souvenir from there.
The last days we spent at Lisbon to get some dose of the culture, shopping and this friendly and lively city.
One good piece of advise for girls – if planning to sleep at Bairro alto – central part of city which is in uphill and the streets are from cobble stones, leave your heels home! not possible walking those streets on heels. Instead take a shoes to change if heading dancing or if want to experience a real nightlife and partying on the streets liek locals (like we did) it’s best to have some sneakers. The night life, small street bars and their food are just great addition to those warm June nights ar Lisbon. Did you know that June is a month of celebration and parties on the streets? You are welcome!
Fado is typical Portuguese music that can be heard playing in bars and pubs, or street artists around the Bairro Alto, so just stop by if hear this lovely melody to capture the Portuguese moment.
These streets at night is dazzling of life, music and dances that shouldn’t be missed if want to experience the real nightlife and feel the city’s spirit.
This was revolutionary for me seeing that San Franciso Golden Gate Bridge and Christ the Redeemer from Rio are found at Lisbon! As turns out the Christ the King statue was actually inspired by the one in Rio, not vice versa as were thinking of. But putting these 2 together in one picture was just something truly particular and impressive.
We had to have it. (and Who closes at 18.30 Christ statue after all? not fair!)
This is a view from Bairro alto to the red rooftops of the city.
This is a place you definitely should get up. we tried 2 days in a row but the waiting lines were just too long to lose precious time left at the city. So we decided to come back next time and be first ones in the line.
Port of Lisbon is a nice place to hang out, go for a stroll or run or just enjoy some drinks under the sunshine.
Indeed, Happy girls are prettiest! And these 3 had great fun exploring Portugal and sure we know – we will be back! ( Me for sure hooked on surfing as soon as I cough that wave and stood up! and those beautiful patterns and tiles that makes the towns and cities charming and mysterious).
Patterns and Colors some happy moments from Porto in my next posts, so stay tuned and happy Monday!
