Your own New Year’s fitness workout tracker

New year, new you! This is my New year’s motto, resolution and objective! Been the craziest end of the year so far and not entirely in the fittest and healthiest way to be completely honest with you.. However 2016 has arrived and it gives you another chance to start over or take it where you last left off. For me it is with the fitness objectives, that I wish to take up where I left it more than a month ago.

I could tell you everything that happened and add some excuse on the top but the truth is – there is not point of that, as it will not really change the situation. Did I work out last 3 weeks? Honestly ? No. But do I feel bad about it? Definitely yes! (Of course 1 week I was sick as a monkey and did not get out of the bed with a bad fever, but that’s gone as well), 2 weeks I am here in Calabria at my boyfriend’s family over holiday and no working out as well as A – everything is closed, B – it’s not really the right place and time to do it when you are visiting family and C – I lacked of motivation as where so tired, exhausted and just needed a rest to regain strengths,will and inspiration.. and you know what? It worked out splendidly!

I am inspired, motivated and fully recharged to get the shape of the life!

So this is what I have been up to last couple of days – I designed my own workout calendar – tracking board to keep my progress.

 I know that I do better if I track my progress and put it in a visual place like on the wall or fridge doors together with some inspirational pictures.  Read More

Workout

It’s been a month I have run out of a gym subscription and I still haven’t renewed one. it’s not because I would be injured, or lazy but because I have been running around so much that physically had no time to squeeze in proper workout sessions at gym But that does not mean I have stopped working out – Not at all! I have been busting my butt at home workout by doing HIIT, and targeted area exercises or having Muay Thai lessons and even squeezed in some TRX training to stay active till get my things in a order and start gym again.

Even though next week is my last week before heading to Calabria (South of Italy) to spend winter break so no point of signing up for a gym yet. But not about vacations is this story, but about HIIT – High Intensity Interval Training.

Jumping Split squat miss athletique

Jumping split squat – one of efficient HIIT training exercises

As a busy girl I not always have much time to do do proper training therefore HIIT comes here really handy as it is really time consuming, efficient and can be performed everywhere.

HOW HIIT CAN HELP YOU TO ACHIEVE YOUR FITNESS GOALS?

  • Efficient – indeed, it can be squeezed in even in the busiest schedule. (The research shows that a 15 minute HIIT session done 3x per week is more efficient than running for an hour on a treadmill. Moreover it improves your aerobic capacity and stamina);
  • Burns more fat – you heard me! it burns fat twice as much. Moreover your body keeps on burning fat 24 hours after the workout. (Lifehack.org explains it scientifically);
  • Increase endurance – extreme training endures and significantly increases your stamina and it’s proven that it will make you to double your performance;
  • No equipment needed- it can be done everywhere depending on your space restrictions (even bedroom), meaning high knees, jumping lunges, burpees, etc.;
  • Lose fat, not muscles – as weight training also HIIT allows to burn fat and not burn muscles as steady cardio;
  • Increase metabolism – HIIT stimulates human growth hormones which increases caloric burn and slows down aging;
  • will not make you bored – trust me, this program definitely will not bore you as there possibilities are endless.

To sum up the HIIT is a perfect instrument to build a stronger, faster and more efficient you – basically 2.0 you by burning fat faster and keeping muscles to give you definition (not talking about bulk. will not become HULK, you just won’t! So don’t worry! add 1-3 HIIT workouts to your training routine and will see you start seeing results in no time!

Some of the different routines you can find HERE and HERE and even HERE.

As today is workout Wednesday I think I am going to make some killer session tonight as well! Who’s in?

HAVE YOU EVER DONE HIIT TRAINING? HOW WAS IT?

Inspiration

There are several accounts that I have been religiously following during last years. These are truly inspiring people that has made huge changes not only in their lives but also motivates and encourages, as well as affects, many others as well. These are truly great inspirations and motivators to live healthier, happier and more confident life and constantly strive for progress and to improve yourself as they do to themselves as well.

These people truly has inspired me when I have been struggling with weight loss, did not see any fitness progress and had doubted my self and my abilities reaching any weight/fitness goals I had. As They have motivated and encouraged me to keep going, not give up, focus and just remind myself why I started, I wish to share with you these guys that might help you to get motivated and keep going.

Inspiration, Me & My Beau

When the leaves turns red and the last witches has taken all the cookies and left, you know it is November! Just one and half month left before Christmas so it is last time to really get motivated, take action and review the list of New year’s resolution so don’t get all guilty when there are things left out.

For me November seems to be a time to take action and focus on myself. Which means – more physical activities (as will be spending more time in the country as planning just 1 trip to Latvia, to have some family time and catch up with friends). Even though my gym subscription ended I am planning to find a new one and do more free body exercises at home – so stay tuned and let’s have some home workout sess’! Read More

New week and new challenges, new starts and new adventures. Not sure what this week will bring me but I am sure that I am going to make the best out of it. Today I am off to London for a fair (looong,looong hours spent in it and no real London enjoying , which is a pity, BUT work is work and so I am not complaining even more because on Friday I am off to Guernsey – (Channel Islands) for a long weekend to meet my friend and celebrating my nephews 1st birthday. But before I go I want to share some of my inspiration of the day to keep you motivated,  inspired and encouraged to go after your dreams, work on yourself and improve!

As lovely Audrey Hepburn says:

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!

Dream a little bit bigger

Dream a little bit bigger

Sometimes we need a little pink note to remind you that you can always dream a little bit bigger and stopping at “good” is not enough – you deserve more! Strive for excellence! Make yourself proud! Whatever you are doing!

keep going

Don’t give up and get inspired

And Ryan..well he knows that squats are good! so keep on squatting, girl! Good motivation, huh? Works for me and my booty and not planning to stop till I will not be satisfied 100% with my fitness results despite on every obstacle that holds me back! ..and you shouldn’t too!

WHAT’S YOUR MONDAY MOTIVATION?

Inspiration

Another magic Monday when the agenda is full and need additional sticky note (like couple of them) to note down everything that must be done today,this week and all month. Must say that October has started to me not relaxing at all: I have re-started teaching, working out, dieting, catching up with emails and works (after traveling the most of the month), friends and family.. not easy I must say, but keeping up and than in the middle of all this madness broke a tooth and had an emergency visit to a dentist’s that finished with pulling it out and getting hooked up with antibiotics.. Needless to say that all my workouts are suspended for the week..

BUT I am back! I am back and recharged and having even set up my wonderful agenda for October with Kerrie Hess Monthly calendar. (Don’t know what I would do without one. So sign up for her newsletter and get one for yourself). You can check her illustrations in her homepage. So lovely! (Can’t wait to have one of her illustrations hanging on my living room.. still a small obstacle – do not have a living room.. yet!)

Anyway, back to Monday and Monday motivation and monthly lists! Super charged and inspired and already planning to re-start my 6am morning runs to catch up with my health, setting up a new workout routine to get that booty shapin’! after all – have to go to a wedding (3rd one) in 3 weeks! So this months motivational picture iiiissss…..

squat motivation

Lifting motivation of the month by Luxquotes

As Japanese proverb says ” Fall down seven times, stand up eight”!

And this is what I am doing! No giving up, just picking where I left and moving on and always striving for progress because I know I will succeed in the end! So no sulking no wining just working hard and smashing goals and having new adventures and everything done!

Next things on my list – London on Monday for business trip/fair, Guernsey island on Friday to visit my friend and participate in my lovely nephew’s 1st year birthday! (Good aunt in me is excited!) and than wedding in Calabria in 3 weeks! And that’s only the traveling part, there is still working, teaching, working out, dieting, blogging part as well..oh yeah and Halloween (It must be celebrated too! Pumpkins and dress up like every year! )

Can I make it all? I am sure I can and I will!

What about you? what’s your plans for October?

Have you ever had that thought in your head that you heart will explode and will collapse before the finish line – aka your goal target distance?  If answer is yes – don’t worry, you are not alone. I have had it several times, especially when I restart running after long time, like after injury or for several other obstacles that prevents me for running for longer periods. Every single time after couple of kilometers I am thinking, “OMG, I am old. I will die” How long I still have to go? (looks to the watch) Seriously? it’s been 9 min, ONLY? I will never make it. Why I am doing this to myself?”, but than in the end I go ahead and finish my distance anyway. You would ask me how? And my answer is simple – dedication and goal reaching and knowing my limits. When I set a goal, whatever field, I always evaluate my possibilities and weapons in order to achieve them and I try to be as realistic as possible, and also honest with myself – can I make it? Mornings are getting fresher and air is getting chillier and you can definitely feel that today is the first day of autumn.  Even though the sun is still shining it is not as hot as it used to be a month ago and we will not manage to blink our eyes that the colorful leaves and fall rains will arrive so it is last opportunity to make the best out of this wonderful weather and enjoy the last sunny days by spending them outdoors!

I actually do enjoy this weather a lot because you still can dress light but mornings asks for some scarf/ poncho perfectly pairing with a tumbler filled with a good, green tea you to warm you up.

So the first thing to embrace the outdoor wellness is to get yourself a good cup of a green tea to start morning right, boost your immune system and detox your body. Read More

Inspiration, Workout

Last 10 days has been a wild roller coaster during my business trip in Japan. When I am travelling it is really hard to maintain my physical form as well as stick to my diet. Luckily for me I was staying in a wonderful hotel at Tokyo which had a great gym with several exercise machines, so were using that to stay in shape and get adopted to the new time zone faster. (Having a good weight training or a run always helps me to get over the jet lag faster).

As a person who is quite shy than getting acquainted with a new gym, it’s equipment, courses, timings and make new friends is quite challenging for me. (Not even mentioning how strange for me is to go around a skyscraper to search for it’s gym, dressed in workout clothes. Not my preferred activity at all. Especially when my colleagues and clients are staying the same place). However I always try to not think about what others think and just concentrate on my goals and reason why I am hitting the gym. And trust me – it helps!

As I believe that I am not the only one that has some intimidation issues with gym than will try to list some things that might make things easier also for you. (Works for me).

Motivational Monday – How to get fitter and happier

Past couple of days has been so emotional and filled with mixed feelings – joy, stress, love, friendship, fatigue, thrill, adrenaline all because one of my dearest friends were getting married and I was doing my best to make this day beautiful and memorable to her. I believe I lost couple of kilos in last 2 days by running to manage everything on time, to help with surprise decorations at her house, the party place and organizing some fun activities after the ceremony. Of course the day after I was exhausted because went to be bed only at 6 am, but was definitely worth it (and as says my friends grandmother :” who is coming to wedding to sleep?!”, so no complaining about lack of my beauty sleep.

All the event, kind words and the whole atmosphere made me pensive the day after making me think of several things, like friends, family, attitudes and comments, surroundings and food as well as personal life and the way I have chosen to live it.  I realized that so many people want everyone to be the same, to stick to the same social norms, standards and have the same lifestyle and interests that’s hard for them to accept that someone has chosen to live their lives as they wish them to and as they find it better for themselves. This is where so many people does not see the line of things that can be discussed and said and when it’s better not to cross it. Read More
