As much is important to stay consistent to your training schedule and do not skip workouts (without a  very! good reason) to have a results, also having a proper rest day is much needed for body to build strength and soul as well! Of course we all like to have a rest day and have our own time to be lazy, reflect and just recharge your batteries (walking home all day in jammies and just be plain lazy (guilty!). However it often ends (at least to me) to be unproductive what, I hate the most, as I believe it is wasting the precious time while I could be productive and clean up things from my schedule and not pile them up.

It took time but I have finally worked out and come up with a balance to rest properly and also get some things done on my days off the workout and it definitely helps me to not feel guilty.

In order to get the best out of the rest day here is a list of tips and suggestions how to make the best out of it and that will lift your productivity and will not make you regret wasting your day. (Works for me! ) Read More

Inspiration

There are several accounts that I have been religiously following during last years. These are truly inspiring people that has made huge changes not only in their lives but also motivates and encourages, as well as affects, many others as well. These are truly great inspirations and motivators to live healthier, happier and more confident life and constantly strive for progress and to improve yourself as they do to themselves as well.

These people truly has inspired me when I have been struggling with weight loss, did not see any fitness progress and had doubted my self and my abilities reaching any weight/fitness goals I had. As They have motivated and encouraged me to keep going, not give up, focus and just remind myself why I started, I wish to share with you these guys that might help you to get motivated and keep going.

Have you ever popped in a grocery shop just to buy “essentials for dinner” and came out of it carrying 2 full bags 1 hour later staffed with cookies, chocolate bars, turkey on promotion and nice looking pineapple ? Well I have and if you are completely honest with yourself you will probably now be thinking last time you went to a shop to get 1 thing and came out with another 10 and a chocolate bar in your hand.

We are all guilty of impulse buys, but it is something you can change and improve on not only to save your pocket but also to skip on junk food that you will regret later on. Here are my rules on doing grocery shopping the clever way. Read More

When the leaves turns red and the last witches has taken all the cookies and left, you know it is November! Just one and half month left before Christmas so it is last time to really get motivated, take action and review the list of New year’s resolution so don’t get all guilty when there are things left out.

For me November seems to be a time to take action and focus on myself. Which means – more physical activities (as will be spending more time in the country as planning just 1 trip to Latvia, to have some family time and catch up with friends). Even though my gym subscription ended I am planning to find a new one and do more free body exercises at home – so stay tuned and let’s have some home workout sess’! Read More

I did it! I signed up for a house that will give treats to spooky little ones! I know it is not really European tradition but it is getting famous also here. Also it is a good occasion to prepare my (already famous) witch finger cookies (guess kids will not enjoy protein treats and protein muffins, huh? or would they??maybe power bars?). They are truly easy and fast to make so if hosting a party or just want something spooky as a treat – than this is a right recipe for you.

here is how a short video explaining it:

Workout

The winning strategy for efficient fat burning and muscle toning is doing cardio training before any strength workout. However not any cardio will do you good if you will not align it with your workout routine. As today is a Leg day for me than I decided to share you some of my pre-workout cardio tips before working out lower body.

Forget about running/jogging before working out legs as it will decrease your leg strength and power during training.

Jogging demands more of the knees, hips and ankles making it not ideal for doing right before a leg workout, moreover it doesn’t match up to the same type of movements and hip flexion that you will need during your leg exercises.

The best would be to do exercises that would mimic the same movements you will be doing later Read More

How to get ready for a Calabrian wedding

Exhausted but happy last night I got back from a weekend getaway in Calabria (South of Italy) where I was attending a friends wedding. As my boyfriend was the best man than the occasion could not be skipped (despite I had to travel for 8 hours with 3 different types of transportation just to get there). However – definitely worth it!

The first rule of each attendant of the wedding is to dress up to look great but not to shadow the bride (expected cat-fight or ruined relationship if you will! So pay attention!).

As it is South of Italy and the weather was still nice than I decided to use to occasion and bring out, some last time some hot colors. Just like peperoncino (the Italian red hot chili pepper), I decided that we have to team up in red. And this is what we did – went with a ruffle, pencil slim dress by Guess (as it was skin tight than were extra careful with my diet last couple of weeks to look good in it). Read More

How to eat healthy at London Gatwick airport

We all have been there- fighting with boredom before or between flights( also me last week in London). Some goes around exploring shopping area if there is any, some surfs Internet  if found a free Wi-Fi that works well, but the biggest part, I have noticed, are hitting g food courts and cafeterias to feed their emotional or real hunger.

As for me, as I believe being a professional jet setter hopping on and off flights every week or every second week (this year been running around the world like crazy) than I can say I have learned quite a lot and have already made my way around airports and finding out where is the best smoothies and nicest salad and prefect snacks for a quick bite.

This time about London Gatwick airport and where I am finding my healthy meals. Read More

Me & My Beau

Living in Italy and not drinking a coffee is something that does not really goes well together with the local culture especially because you cannot imagine a meeting, starting your morning (properly) or finishing a meal that would not involve a short, black coffee from a mini cup.  As we all know how proud Italians are with their black as night, sweet as love and hot as the hell coffee so taking that away drags you in the center of attention immediately.. So this is what happened with me last 2 weeks as I was resetting my caffeine tolerance by cutting down on coffee.

I must say that living in Milan for 5 years you really get used to drinking coffee and it is harder to quit a habit than I was thinking it would be, but I made it (with some floss in my strict plan, BUT still did it) and can proudly say that I have definitely reset my caffeine tolerance and that it definitely works!  Read More

Inspiration

New week and new challenges, new starts and new adventures. Not sure what this week will bring me but I am sure that I am going to make the best out of it. Today I am off to London for a fair (looong, looong hours spent in it and no real London enjoying , which is a pity, BUT work is work and so I am not complaining even more because on Friday I am off to Guernsey – (Channel Islands) for a long weekend to meet my friend and celebrating my nephews 1st birthday. But before I go I want to share some of my inspiration of the day to keep you motivated,  inspired and encouraged to go after your dreams, work on yourself and improve!

As lovely Audrey Hepburn says:

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!

Dream a little bit bigger

Dream a little bit bigger

Sometimes we need a little pink note to remind you that you can always dream a little bit bigger and stopping at “good” is not enough – you deserve more! Strive for excellence! Make yourself proud! Whatever you are doing!

keep going

Don’t give up and get inspired

And Ryan..well he knows that squats are good! so keep on squatting, girl! Good motivation, huh? Works for me and my booty and not planning to stop till I will not be satisfied 100% with my fitness results despite on every obstacle that holds me back! ..and you shouldn’t too!
