How to substitute your morning oatmeal

How to substitute your morning oatmeal

You love traditional morning oats or oatmeal but kind bored and would like to try something else for a change? Well look no further because I have an answer for you – a semolina strawberry porridge.

I do like my oats a lot, but sometimes you just need to switch up your morning routines and try something else as well and who said that eating clean should be boring and monotone ?

As a Latvian I grew up eating porridge for breakfast and I must say I still love that. Having a fresh strawberry sauce on my oatmeal or a homemade marmalade that can be mixed in your meal leaving a colorful circles.

Ok, enough! Back to reality and to alternative to that regular oatmeal for breakfast!

A wonderful substitution to typical oats is a semolina. It has great nutrition value, it is rich with fibre and loaded with good stuff for you. (Here you can read more about nutrition value of semolina). The fun thing that semolina origins comes from Italy, but they do not eat it in a porridge or sweets liek North or East Europe people does, they make them in a gnocchi – dumplings and serve with a soup or pasta substitute.

I have already shared with you my semolina blueberry moose recipe and the fun thing is that the semolina porridge is the first part of preparation for the moose. In other words – to make the semolina moose you first need to make the porridge that you will whip it later to form foam.

This is my breakfast porridge with some almond flakes:
