Did you know that peanut butter is classified as a superfood? Actually funny how good peanuts are for you your body and not only to satisfy your sweet tooth. It has a significant role in a daily nutrition and part of many athlete diet, also mine as it contains all those good fats and protein. The amino acids present in them are good for proper growth and development of body. They lower bad cholesterol and are great as antioxidants, and that’s not it, it has many other good impacts to your health and body. To know more about peanut amazing benefits, all 29, you can find here.
As a conscious consumer I always check the labels and hidden sugars in my food I discovered how much added carbs and sugars are in processed spreads than I decided to make my own peanut butter. It is fast, easy and result is absolutely delicious. Here is how.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
full bowl or as much peanuts you want. I used 250g (when cleaned so around 350-400g with shells).
1tbs peanut oil
You will need: frying pan and food processor and some patience to clean peanuts.
Step 1.
Clean Peanuts and put them to frying pan and roast them slightly.
Step 2.
Roast them slightly on a pan till they are golden light. pay attention to not burn them it will affect the taste (I know becasue it happened to me first time trying).
Keep on a low heat for better results.
Step 3.
Let them cool down and once that done blend them in a food processor.
When they start to get thicker – add a tbs of a peanut oil. (can be used other oils as well, but I prefer this one).
Step 4.
Voilà! your peanut butter is ready to be taster and served. For a complete smooth-pasty result you can blend them longer, however I stopped this time at at “crunchy” level.
This is my comparison with the Calve and Skippy ones. do you see the color difference? Also when checked the nutrition information was surprised how much added sugar is in these processed ones that since than – I always make my own peanut butter. Also it costs a lot less than shop-bought (at least in Italy).
This is a Nutrition information for peanuts – I see only benefits if adding it in your diet or replace some snack with it.
My preferred is peanut butter and wholegrain slice of bread or rice cakes with a peanut butter and banana or just banana and peanut butter. nom nom nom.
Sometimes I go all arty and creative with my food – so here is a funny face that made me smile on Sunday morning.
P.S. A fun fact – did you know about this fear of peanut butter sticking to your top of mouth? Read it in once at Cosmopolitan and made me laugh.
