Restaurant review: Food pearl of Riga- Kilimanjaro

Restaurant review: Food pearl of Riga- Kilimanjaro

Named one of the food pearls of Riga, Kilimanjaro is a place where you do want to have your dinner  held if want to experience an excellent, white glove service in a non-traditional, African style restaurant which happens to be named one of the best restaurants in Riga (Took 8th place in the excellence award of best restaurants in Riga in 2014). Therefore this was also my restaurant choice when in come to choose where to celebrate my mom’s birthday.

The restaurant offers exotic and traditional, gourmet plates in a friendly atmosphere adding a complementary snacks/drinks between the courses for a fair price together with a high standard service.

Here you can see for yourselves how my foodie experience went (even on a strict diet like I have ).

It all started with an starters and some traditional bread and butter.

As I am not a fan of a fish roe nor creamy type of spreads so I passed this one, but everyone else loved it.

Up, left: A dish of a Root vegetable layered with roasted mozzarella cheese and bio “Beluga” lentils.

After this lovely starter course we had a complementary sorbet “pause” before continuing with our main dishes.

Had only a spoon of it but must say – delicious and refreshing.

Than it was a time for the main dish. As menu offered also exotic met than my chose fell for a ostrich steak.

Ostrich steak

I chose it for it’s high nutrition value (loaded with protein and low in carbs and fat) and was happy with my choice as was just perfect accompanied with lightly fried asparagus and Riga Black Balsam sauce. Even tho was tempted to try crocodile fillet as well. (Already know what to choose next time).

My brother and mom went for a less exotic tastes – a meet dishes that also looked rather tempting.

And as for a dessert – we talked our mom into trying a chef’s special dessert of the day.

Vanilla Creme Brulee

My mom was not so keep on me taking pictures all the time so was going paparazzi on this one to get the Creme brulee and mom in the picture before it is gone.

Happy Birthday, Mom
